5 Songs for your Summer BBQ
Posted 4 months ago - Jun 29, 2026
From: Obadiah Haybin4th of July is almost here and its time to celebrate freedom with a BBQ! The biggest tip I can give you? POTATO BUNS. Seriously. Don't buy the cheap buns. Go with potato and you'll elevate your hot dog game in a way you didn't even know was possible.
The second biggest tip I can give you? The right playlist. Obviously, you can just fire up the WayFM app and we'll do all the driving but I've also selected a few songs that I think would be perfect around the open flame.
Happy Independence Day (and beyond)!! Now someone pass me the ketchup.
1-2 Barbecue - John Reuben
Some might know him from his team-up with Mercy Me, but others of us have been faithful JR listeners for years. (We are both from the east side of Columbus, OH.) He made my favorite music video of all time. It's a mash-up of hip-hop and... duck duck goose? Yep! Click here to watch it.
Strings & Heart - peach sand
A friend introduced me to Strings and Heart a few months ago and I've been a fan ever since. Surf sounds. Unique vibes. You'll be telling people about them. (I am!)
Switchfoot - Beautiful Life
It was hard to pick only one song from the new Switchfoot album. You should go listen to the entire thing but BBQ requires a certain vibe and this song felt like the right choice (though you can't really go wrong with Switchfoot).
Don’t Blink - Hopeful
LIN D - Messed Up Messenger
LIN D is another group that you may not have heard of but belongs in your rotation. You'll be dancing all over the backyard and wondering where they've been all your life. They put out a full album last year called "Honest to God" that was easily one of my favorites of 2025. This is one of those songs that I restart as soon as its over.
