I started a new ritual at the beginning of this year. I now put on some headphones each day and listen to the audio Bible, during my morning jog. This was sort of a New Year’s resolution, and I am so glad I started it, because, even though I have read through the Bible several years ago, I am hearing verses and things found in the Bible that I never remember hearing before.
Like today… when I heard the word “dung” in the Bible! I didn’t know “dung” was in the Bible, did you?
Here it is:
"At that time, declares the Lord, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves. 2 They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground." Jeremiah 8: 2 NIV
Or, how about this? Did you know that God talks about blushing in the Bible? I didn’t know this one either:
"Are they ashamed of these disgusting actions? Not at all—they don’t even know how to blush!" Jeremiah 8:12 NLT
My point is the Bible is amazing and I have taken it for granted. It’s a book about real life in every way. It gives you the good, the bad, the people who have messed up, the dung, and the grace of God. It is not a book for old, grumpy church people. It is for me. It can help me. It is relevant!

So, I have found a new way to read it, by listening to it, via the audio Bible...and it’s all new to me.
I would challenge you to find your own way to get back into the Bible.
Another way I'm excited to make the Bible come alive is through the World’s Biggest Small Group starting October 5 on WAY-FM.
Maybe this one's for you!
Every day, you’ll get an email devotion for the day, where you will read some interesting Bible verses that will challenge you in your faith. The WAY-FM shows are getting involved, too. They’ll be discussing these daily topics on the radio and you can call them and chime in. You can find out more, and sign up at
