Choose How You Look at Your Scars

Scott Hamilton is remembered as one of the best male figure skaters ever! Everyone knows that he is the man who can do backflips on ice, but not everyone knows that he is a devote Christian. His testimony blew me away when I got to hear it in church this Sunday. Scott has faced cancer and several brain tumors. His health issues almost took his life multiple times. Scott shared how he looks at his illnesses in his "I Am Second" video,
Scott Hamilton "I can choose to look at it as debilitating. I could choose to look at the suffering. I CHOOSE to look at that brain tumor as the greatest gift I've ever gotten because it made everything else possible."
How often do we look at the scars in our lives with defeat? We get angry that we even have them. Our emotional and physical scars can weigh us down. However, Hamilton taught me that we can actually be thankful for our scars. They make us stronger. They prove God's faithfulness. It's our choice how we view them.
