When a marriage ends, it's so painful and messy and disorienting... My prayer was broken. My belief was broken. My worship was broken and I couldn't make those things work... Each night of the tour... they would open it up for an alter call... we as the artists would go around and pray for people. And I thought, "Man, I don't know how to do that... I don't know how prayer works anymore because the one thing I prayed the hardest about didn't work out..." I decided instead of hiding out in my bunk... I'm gonna go down and pray for people. I don't know how that's going to work... but I want to be present to this. I felt so encouraged in that - as if God was saying, "I still have good work for you to do." For anyone going through that... "the initiative against despair is to arise and do the next thing."
