If we spend our lives in the same location doing the same things, influenced by the same people, it is easy to get stuck in a rut. 1. Getting out of the country will quickly humble you.

When you see the conditions people live in it is heart breaking, but when they pray that God will bless you, when they might eat a bowl or two of rice a day, it will knock you to your knees.

2. Getting out of the country will inspire you.

It will not only inspire you to make a change in the lives of the people you meet, but also in your own life as well. When you see pure joy emanating from people who have so little it is a great reset. Real joy isn't based on outside circumstances, it comes from inside knowing that you are loved by God regardless of what life looks like.

3. Getting out of the country and serving others will align your heart with God’s.

Jesus often spoke about the poor and taking care of the “least of these.” The kids we met today would certainly fit into that category. They have so little and the opportunity to make them feel special and tell them they are cherished by God was a gift, not only for them, but for us as well. Getting to spend time in places like Ghana is a great reset for me personally. It is a reminder that God’s love isn’t just for me and it is something I should always take the time to share with others regardless of my location.
