Big Daddy Weave The band Big Daddy Weave could use our prayers. This past week, the guitar player in the band, Jay Weaver (pictured on the far right), got some devastating health news. Due to an infection in his legs, both feet had to be amputated. It can be hard to know how to pray in situations like this one, yet, it can seem like there are people hurting everywhere we turn. That's when we turn to God's Word for help. Here are 5 verses you can pray starting today!
1. Pray for patience.
"Yet I am confident I will see the LORD’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD." (Psalm 27: 13-14)
2. Pray they would let God carry the burden.
"Give your burdens to the LORD,and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall." (Psalm 55:22)
3. Pray that these circumstances will reveal God's glory and power.
"Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
4.Pray for perseverance and strength to keep going.
"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up." (Galatians 6:9)
5. Pray for continued, whole-hearted trust through it all.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." (Proverbs 3:5-6) Mike Weaver is the lead singer of Big Daddy Weave and brother to Jay. We love what he said about the situation: "I told my dad... how can we sing "My Story?" He's like, "Because his story's not done yet..." We're all in the middle of some kind of thing that God's working out in all of us... But I do know this: God is so good. It doesn't shake that... It doesn't mean that God doesn't love Jason because he's going through this. No! Jesus said in this life that we'll have trouble and he said don't be afraid... because I've overcome the world... The way we respond to the garbage and the difficulty in this life in front of Jesus is stuff that we can carry on to heaven with us. That's an offering to God that can never be made once we're in heaven." If you would like to support Jay and his family financially, you can learn more on his You Caring page. Others in Christian Music have been rallying around the band with prayers and support.
