Hawk Nelson plays a song called, "Diamonds." It packs more punch against the hard seasons of life than you might realize.
Here are 3 super important truths to remember when the pressure is on and life gets tough:
1. Pressure produces strength.
"[The song] talks about how God can use pressure, struggle, trials and stress in our life and make it into something stronger and more beautiful." That's what Jon Steingard,
lead singer of Hawk Nelson said in an interview about the song. "Just in the same way that diamonds are made. It's a big comfort to me when I'm in those times to remember that hardships have a purpose and aren't without meaning."
God feels your pain with you. He hurts when you hurt. But He also sees how strong you can be on the other side.
"2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow." (James 1:2-3)

2. Diamonds reflect.
"A diamond is strong." Jon explains. "It reflects light. It doesn't have any light of its own, but it reflects the light that it receives."
God turning us into diamonds is a pretty cool way of looking at who we are becoming - something so beautiful and refined that it radiates the love of Christ.
3. Everyone needs this message.
Jon was inspired to write this song while surveying the faces in the crowd at a youth conference.
Jon says, "I could see it on their faces, that they were trying to figure out how to live their lives as teenagers, and that if they made mistakes in their lives, then their Christianity was in question."

For the young man dealing with a secret addiction or the teenage girl trying to figure out how to tell her parents that she's pregnant, a dangerous lie became believable: that God's grace and love could not possible extend this far. It was in one of these cell phone light moments in a show that I was struck with a feeling that this is what God wanted to say to an entire generation:
that He is for us, He is not against us."
"6 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." (1 Peter 1:6-7)
