I'm addicted.
Totally and completely addicted to BUSYNESS!
This seems to be the addiction that is never even viewed as an addiction. America glorifies being busy like it's an accomplishment. Instead, it can be dangerous in our lives.
I feel like I'm at my best when I have a completely full day, week, and month. It's insanely hard to find a pocket of free time and that's how I like it. It makes me feel important and needed. However, what I'm really doing is avoiding my own thoughts, my own conscience, my own life. Sometimes I think if I can just stay busy enough that I won't have to be alone with my own thoughts. I am an extreme extrovert and being alone is not my favorite thing, but it's good for me.
Busyness keeps us from being the people God created us to be and so many of us are addicted to it! We don't have time for people we love. We choose electronics over God, and our schedules are too full to even leave room for what God wants us to do.
How do we overcome our addiction?
Well, they say acknowledging it is the first step.
Then I think we need to learn the word "no," allowing more time in our schedules and our lives.
